TheTrachyEnjoyer Posted December 29, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 29, 2022 I was recently able to win my last remaining needed trachy of Manuel Komnenodoukas to own every AE type he issued. Sear 2179 Rather hard to photograph, some of legend is intact My other win which helped me complete the AE series was this: Sear 2181, another hard to obtain type. It has not arrived yet.
GordianAppreciator101 Posted December 29, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 29, 2022 Congrats on the win! Will you do a group shot of every single type to celebrate when you get your hands on this one?

quant.geek Posted December 30, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2022 (edited) Very nice! I saw that coin, but managed to loose focus due to work and family commitments. Glad it went to you! Here is one that I already owned: Kingdom of Thessalonica: Manuel Comnenus-Ducas (1230-1237) Æ Trachy, Thessalonica (Sear 2179; DOC IV Type C, 5; Lianta 352-55) Obv: MP - ΘV in field; Bust of Virgin nimbate, orans. Star in left and right field Rev: ΜAΝϪΗΛ ΔЄCΠ - Ο A/ΓI/OC ΔIMITPIOC; Full-length figure of ruler on left, and of St Demetrius, beardless and nimbate, giving a globus surmounted by a patriarchal cross into the hands of the ruler. Ruler wears stemma, divitision, collar-piece and jeweled loros of simplified type; right hand holds scepter; Saint wears divitision and chlamys; left hand holds spear Edited December 30, 2022 by quant.geek 5
ewomack Posted December 30, 2022 · Member Share Posted December 30, 2022 Nice coin and great story @TheTrachyEnjoyer! Also, which book did you display in your post? I don't think I've seen that one.
