A Trio of Flavian Bronzes

Going over some of my collection this evening, I realized that I had exactly one bronze coin of each of the Flavian emperors. They aren't what you might call my favorites - although I like them all - most of my Flavian collection being in silver. Still, having them in hand again and under magnification helped me appreciate them for what they are. I took fresh photos of the trio and compiled them into a bit nicer presentations, so here you are:

Thanks! I downloaded the studio background from somewhere, and add the coin photos, shadows, and text using GIMP. Took me awhile to get the hang of it, but it comes together fairly easily now.

I've been taking the coin photos using my old, defunct Samsung Galaxy 6 phone. Sometimes with my Nikon D3200 DSLR. I like the smartphone better in most cases because it can focus closer on the coin, and I think I've finally found the sweet spot of lighting and camera app settings.

World coins are a lot easier to work with since they are generally pretty flat and perfectly round. With ancients, I have to free select the coin from the background manually (tracing a line around perimeter of the coin). That takes a bit of time.

This is the background I most often use. I forget where I got it from, but it's a nice 4000x7000 pixels so that gives you a lot of room to work with.
