  1. @Andrew McCabe thank you for the kind words and the additional facts on the Vibius Pansa. And in general just being a pillar of knowledge on the subject. I am very much looking forward to your “forever project” on Bronzes haha.

One of my favourites is the Brutus Ahala, I learnt about these specific dies from one of your posts, and after looking at probably all the examples that I could find, I resonate that these dies are simply *chefs kiss*. Just so happens that I managed to snag this one at a recent auction, and in my opinion at a very reasonable price (€530 including buyers fee and shipping), one of my greatest “auction thrills” thus far.

Will post my findings on provenance and other info in my future write-ups when time allows.

  2. First attempt at a virtual tray, arranged in ascending order according to Crawford.

My collection of “16-ish” coins acquired in the past 5 months, 1 might be a contemporary imitation while the other 2 are Geto-Dacian, can you guess which ones they are?

I will also be posting write-ups on the coins at a future period when I have more time.

Lastly, although I’ve never really spoken to these people before, I figured that they should know they’ve helped and inspired this young collector, and surely many others along the way.

Do pardon the cringe but big shoutouts to:

@Andrew McCabe for having such a comprehensive and amazing RR website, a jaw dropping collection, and being an encyclopaedia of knowledge.

@Phil Davis for sparking my interest in Geto-Dacians from his work, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed re-reading many a time. In my opinion, some of the most beautiful RR coins I’ve “seen” belong to Phil.

@DonnaML the reason I started collecting RR was from gaining an interest after reading one of her many excellent RR write-ups (it was the one on Cordius Rufus, of which I’ve “patiently” been waiting to find an example I really like)

At last, the virtual tray, please enjoy! 🙂

  3. Thanks @Limes and @Phil Davis for the welcome.

And a double thanks to you @Phil Davis for not bidding it up on the Pomponius haha. Was definitely shocked when I "snagged" it at that price, had to pinch myself a little. Love the Pomp, as I find both the mystery of him and of the Koson staters absolutely fascinating. After the pinching came the head scratching, thinking of how the Gar Ogul Ver went for more than the Pomp. But from my research I did not find one with a nicer reverse, it looked gorgeous in the video, and if i'm being assumptive I think it's one of the nicest specimens of its type for now, which to me "justified" its pricing. Can't wait to see all of them in hand!

  4. Congrats Phil and Joe, those are some beautiful coins. I wonder what the other eight coins are Phil? My main miss was the 20 asses, a stunning coin but it went beyond my budget.
On the bright side, and to my surprise, I ended the day with exactly what I wanted going in.
