  1. Hi, I do not want to post the website, but for those aware of Ex-Numis, have you had any success? They give you a free search to match a die I suppose to a past auction of your coin based on photos, so that you can get a provenance history. I wondering if the system has been successful for anyone or if its reliable.
  2. Some of it does look like horn silver, which would need some chemical treatment, I seen users on CT discuss this and show before and after as well as methods. I am not sure who they are or if they have migrated here. Some results were stunning and showed much more detail and over all appeal to the coin.
  3. barbarous wow? I guess if they say so.
  4. @akeady nice coins, does CCG offer a authenticity guarntee?

  7. @kevikens @hotwheelsearl well, there we go. the average roman public im sure felt very similar, maybe it was more of the wealthy that cared. Im sure some people hoarded more pure metals then the debased because of that purpose.
  8. @TheTrachyEnjoyerbut thousands of years prior have showed it the case.
  9. Happy Birthday! Enjoy the read! My latest book im excited about is;
  10. The hadrian reverse has so much detail, wow.
  11. Maybe someone who was around for the Coinage Act of 1965 can shed some light on how the public reacted, and maybe you can gage some of the concerns or worry or otherwise to maybe how the ancients felt? For me, owning precious metal seemed like a backbone of currency and its value.
  12. Congrats on the nice coins. Enjoy the hobby and can't wait to see what 2023 brings for you.
  13. How much different was the coin? Regarding wear? Maybe the original photos were much better or vice versa. Or maybe he was told it was a this plate coin and shown two photos that weren't the greatest but were a match?
  14. Thanks all. @shanxiseems to be it, just bronze. Thx.
  15. Hello, This was in my family for a while, trying to figure out what it is. I think it may be Azes II , I can only make out a horse rider. Its silver, roughly 13-11mm ? Thanks

  19. @DonnaML yeah you are right. I swear I just read the other day he used F. So weird.
  20. I have stuck them in small jewelry boxes, like below image; Also, maybe a small coin envelope with a bow on it would be cool too.
  21. @Nerosmyfavorite68 "Fine" was actually Mehl's highest grade. He did not use aF or XF. I was wondering the same until I read more about him. I suppose "Fine" was a standard back then on ancients? Or maybe it was a Mehl thing. Edit: As Donna pointed out, there is a VF in the same posting. Strange because I read this somewhere the other day.
  22. @antwerpen2306I agree with all the arguments in the article. Modern fake until further proof.
  23. @NewStyleKingthis particular did not have photos in the catalog unfortunately. Prob a NewStyleOwl 😄
