There was certain areas that were coordinated off and people working, at the time I didn't know who they were, but they were probably archaeologist excavating the area. the description of the coins are all marked Smyrna, but some were probably from different areas. The Greek coins were marked as to the area: Cyme, Ephesus, etc.

Good Book, My father had this in his library, I wonder if some of the Byzantine coins that he collected was from Sardis. We were there from 1968-1970. i will have to do more research.

Does anyone remember Wayne C. Phillips Mail Bid Sales, I used to bid on his coins. His auctions where very unique. The pictures were not the best. I enjoyed receiving them and seeing different coins.
