  1. As far as I am aware, there is no limited number of “thread slots.” So post away! If we just had one mega thread of miscellaneous, I imagine a lot of interesting discussions would get missed! I would just suggest not clogging up the board with 10 ‘need help identifying’ threads all at once. and while typing this, it occurs to me that at the other place we always wanted to get a pinned thread on posting etiquette (not rules, but just advice on how to be a good contributing member - such as not clogging the board with identification help). I think at one point we had jotted some ideas down, but I’m not sure if I could find them again.
  2. I often just buy what comes my way if it is interesting and a reasonable price. But there are also certain coins I am looking for and have been waiting for the right one to come my way (for example, an Irish penny of king John - that’s been on the list for nearly 5 years now). I also get distracted when reading books and wanting to get coins discussed in them, or coins that could be interesting examples of events I discuss in my classes.
  3. Oooo…. Some good categories I hadn’t considered added too. Well done!
  4. Might need an ‘other’ or ‘misc.’ category for ancient too (I’m thinking things like Chinese coins, Parthians, Indian/Kushan, etc.) but I’m excited for this!
  5. I’m in! I probably love books as much as I love coins…
  6. Nice coins Jean! (Gonna take awhile to get used to the new name!). Well, my write-up on Champagne was on the other forum, but here is my one from Troyes (forgive the strange formatting underneath - still figuring this out and on a phone…) French Feudal - Champagne Henry II, r. 1181-97 Troyes Mint, AR Denier, 20.52 mm x 0.9 grams Obv.: +HENRI COMES, Cross Pattee with annulet in 2nd and 3rd quarters Rev.: +TRECAS CIVITAS, TEBO Monogram Ref.: Roberts 4145
  7. Sounds good! By the way, thanks for setting this up @Restitutor! I just had a thought though - would it be worth having a separate forum/topic for numismatic books? I was thinking about migrating my book reviews over here…

Hello all - imagine my surprise to come home after a crazy-whirlwind tour of Greece and Italy to find my favorite forum migrated…. I’m sad to see this happened, but glad to find my friends here, as well as those who we had lost on the last forum. Thanks to those who sent me messages letting me know. I’ll likely be inactive for a while because my life it still upended with moving house, but I just wanted to drop a line to let you know I’m here! -Fitz/Nick (is it worth having Medieval Monday if there’s a whole separate forum for medieval coins???)
