  1. The Measurements of this coin are: 3.39gm., AE17.4mm. I am happy that on the reverse I can see a prow (of a galley) right. On the obverse I have been trying to make out the head of Zeus, or Herakles, with no luck. I have taken photos on four different axis. Any assistance is greatly appreciated, please?

  8. Notwithstanding this head looking much like a cross between Antoninus Pius and Septimus Severus, I believe that this coin is Greek. Obverse: Male head right (with beard) Reverse: Female figure standing holding spear in right hand while holding left arm outwards. Measurements : 4.25 m., AE16.2 mm. I would appreciate any assistance in attributing this coin, thank you.
  9. Thank you Ancientone. That indeed does look like my coin. Your input is greatly appreciated. Thank you, again.
  10. I recently purchased a bag lot (60) of (mixed) Greek coins. I have managed to attribute all bar a half a dozen of them, and I am in need of help with those. Most have come from Macedonia and date in the first century B.C. Here is one of the coins that I am having some difficulty with. Measurements 5.52 gm., AE 17.7 mm. I believe that we may have on the obverse a male head (Bearded) facing right, and, on the reverse we may have a female figure standing facing, head to left with right arm outstretched and left arm resting on a shield, spear behind. Can anyone help me get further with an attribution, please? Thank you.
  11. I think that I can see Janiform heads on the obverse of this coin. I think that I can I see a horse galloping (R) with 'S' 'C' above on the reverse. If I can, is someone able to help me to identify this coin, please? If I cannot, then what do you see, please? Measurements: 3.86 gm., AE16.3 mm.
  12. Like most people here I have a 'modest' collection of artefacts from Egyptian Ushabtis to children's toys from the Indus civilization. However, staying on topic for the Roman period, amongst my many items I have a 'crucifixion nail'. (Same nail, two views.)
  13. @Magnus MaximusGood to see you here.
