A group of Portuguese Ceitils, probably mostly issued under Manuel I. Late 1400s to early 1500s. Some of the legends are partially missing. I think ~$20 for the lot.

I see your 1925 Canada 1 cent there. Wow!
Can't tell condition from pics, but it looks pretty good. How bout a better pic of both sides? Thanks
Thanks! My daughter looked up and told me it was a low mintage date while we were shopping. Otherwise I wouldn't have known to grab it. Surface wear is not bad, but it has a corrosion spot and some rim damage. Maybe a US $20-30 coin? I'm not sure. There doesn't seem to be huge interest in Canadian coins from most US collectors.

Got 56 coins for $5 US. Lots of Modern Japan with decent face value, at least.
Japan
100 yen 1968, 1973
50 yen 1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1973, 1989, 1990
10 yen reeded 1952 x2, 1953 x2, 1954 x2
10 yen smooth 1969 (nice copper luster)
5 yen (older types) 1948, 1951 x2
10 sen 1942
5 sen 1942
Switzerland 20 rappen 1947, 1959, 1969x2 (I think these are still worth $0.20 face)
UK penny: 1896, 1914, 1917, 1918, 1920, 1921, 1936 x2
Australia penny: 1940, 1942
New Zealand 1/2 penny 1949 (pleasing condition)
Canada small cent 1925, 1927, 1940
The 1925 is the lowest mintage of the George V Canada cents and is worth a few dollars.
My daughter (who I brought along for practice on her driver's permit) spotted it for me.
Austrian Netherlands (Belgium) 1789 Jospeh II 1 Liard (edges damaged, alas)
Belgium: 1 Franc 1929 (nice condition), Dutch text
France: 1 franc 1960, 1965, 5 centimes 1904
Germany 1890 1 pfennig, 1924 5 reichspfennig
Spain 100 pesetas 1984, 10 centimos 1959
Italy 100 lira 1966
Norway 10 Øre 1973
Greece 50 lepta 1957
Iceland 25 aurar 1967
Ceylon 25 cents 1951
Ecuador 1944 20 centavos
Uruguay 1936 10 centésimos (single-year type)
I looked through a few thousand coins to pick out these.
Fortunately the shop owner knows me and tolerates all this!
If you would like to see an individual pic of any, please let me know.- 8

I think I have some rubles. I got them a long time ago, so I hope that they are authentic.
1818
1924
1896, 1897, 1898
I miss the 90s when I could buy crown-sized silvers as an impulse buy. I've mostly shifted to world coppers.

I like Saxony, but I only have minors:
(Edit: if you add them all together, it's almost a thaler. 1/24 + 1/6 + 1/24 + 1/48 + 2/3 = 45/48. Not sure how to add in the 2 pfennige)
1/24 Thaler 1763 Saxony Albertine Frederick Christian
Saxony-Albertine 1/6 Thaler 1763
Saxony 1/24 Thaler 1624
Saxony-Albertine 1/48 Thaler 1807 Friedrich August I
2/3 Thaler Saxony 1767 (ex-mount)
Saxony-Albertine 1864 B 2 Pfennige

Part 3 (final): Ottoman Empire 1854 10 Para Abdülmecid year 16
Pittsburgh Transit Token 1922
Prussia 1 Pfennig 1810 Friedrich Wilhelm III
UK 1/2 Penny 1806 George III
Mystery 21 mm copper or bronze. I'm guessing 1800s from the hair style in the portrait (short hair, no wig, sideburns?)
My best guess is Baden 1 Kreuzer Leopold 1836-45. Some of the details of the portrait are vary similar, but others don't seem to match. Any guesses? Comparison below.

Grand Duchy of Baden 1 Kreuzer 1871 Frederick I
Margraviate of Baden 1/2 Kreuzer 1804 Karl I Friedrich
Luxembourg 1930 5 Centimes Charlotte
Malaya and British Borneo 1962 1 Cent
Netherlands 1823 1 Cent Willem I

A few pics of some of the more interesting ones. Any German States in a 10 cent bin I will definitely snatch up, though I rarely get the opportunity!

Anhalt 1864 A 3 Pfennige
Reuss-Schleiz 1858 A 3 Pfennige
Saxony-Albertine 1864 B 2 Pfennige

I love picking through junk boxes.
Will you add most of these to your collection?
Do you collect all countries?
John
I have some bins sorted by half century for coins not interesting enough to write up. Doesn't take much room.
The more interesting ones I write up a label and put in a flip so I can find them again when I want.
I pretty much collect any world coinage, though I don't really focus on post-colonial (~1960-present) coinage.
I would like to collect a large copper from every country/authority that issued them 1850-1950 or so. Or as many as I can find!

Still sorting through to see what I got. Condition of many of these is poor, but I see some German States pre-1870, some Notgeld, and a bunch of 1800s coppers. Also a Japan occupation Korea 1 Yen note. No serial number on the lower right, so I assume this is the 1944 rather than the 1932. These were from an unsorted bag recently recently sold to the shop, so I think I may have been the first customer to pick over them. Cheap and fun way to waste an hour.
Will try and post pics of some of the more interesting ones when the light is better. (Or please let me know of any individual photo requests.)

I think my only Edward VIII coin is a Fiji penny. I think I got a handful of different dates for about a dollar each.

Other Europe
Spain
Italy
Scandinavia
Tokens (actually, the left one was found on the street elsewhere, not purchased. Right is a money token from a 1996 Star Wars Monopoly game.)

Part 2 of photos.
Ireland and Australia pennies
Other Asia (and oops, Angola too)
Latin America
Post-colonial Africa

The local shop had several more bags of lightly picked-over world coins last visit. They were described as probably but not guaranteed to be bound for the 10 cent bin. I picked out 71 of interest and got them for $10, which I suspect was a decent price. In case any of you are as fond of junk bin picking as I am, I'll post some photos.

It's a little later, but this is one of my favorite shillings: 1711 Queen Anne Love Token
And here's a Commonwealth half crown from 1653. The reverse is rotated at some strange angle compared to the obverse. It was mistakenly listed as a 6 pence, which is the only reason I was able to get it in my price range.

The rest of the set, L to R from top:
Chile, 100 Pesos, 1984
Lebanon, 5 Piastres, 1961
Argentina, 20 Centavos, 1949
Argentina, 50 Centavos, 1953
Mexico, 5 Centavos, 1957
Mexico, 1 Centavo, 1951 (?)
Portugal, 5 Escudos, 1963
Italy, 10 Centesimi, 1936, XIV (Numista has this as more expensive than the other dates in the series, even though the mintage is not low at ~9 million.)
Denmark, 25 Øre, 1961
Canada, 1 Cent, 1940
El Salvador, 5 Centavos, 1956
Honduras, 1 Centavo de Lempira, 1939 (?)
Denmark, 2 Øre, 1942
Italy, 5 Centesimi, 1933
There was also a Samoa 1 Tala 1984 (I think), but I gave it to my youngest kid knowing she would like a 7-sided coin.- 8

The local shop had several bags of unsorted world coins set aside for the 10 cent bin.As usual, I was eager to help myself to some barely picked-over coins. The first 10, L to R from top:Denmark, 10 Kroner, 1989 (about $1.35 face value)Italy, 1 Lira, 1928Israel ,1/2 Lira, 1975 (?)Sweden, 5 Öre, 1920UK, 1/2 Penny, 1926USSR, 5 Kopecks, 1961x2USSR, 5 Kopecks, 1945 (Apparently, this is not a common date, worth ~$20?)Japan, 1 Sen, Meiji 16 = 1883, badly scratched on obverseIceland, 1940, 5 AurarI'll try to post the rest later.

The 1879 UK narrow date penny (R) was a junk bin find. On the left is the normal version for comparison. It's very worn, but scarce enough I'm happy to have one in any condition. I didn't even realize it was a scarce variety when I grabbed it as part of a larger lot of UK coppers at 10 cents each.

A couple Canada cents, 1910 Edward VII and 1932 George V
The 1910 is in passable shape and might be worth a couple bucks. 1933 is a common date and not worth much in circulated condition.

Most of the coins I picked are modern with no significant value, but there's been a few fun ones.
Fiji Shilling 1934 George V, 0.500 Ag. I like colonial silvers and Pacific Island coins in general. Mintages for many Pacific nations are not huge due to the small populations. This is one of the higher mintage shillings at 360K.

Made an offer for abut 30+ world coins from an unpriced, unsorted large bag at a shop. Cost about $32 for the whole lot, which I'm not sure if it was a good deal or not yet. I picked out a couple interesting coins which will make up most of the value, and the rest are probably near junk value. The lot:
Here's one of the more interesting ones to me: China puppet East Hebei 2 Jiao 1937 Year 26
I'm always interested in WW2-era occupation coinage, and these don't turn up for me very often. I'll post some of the others as time permits.

An attractive 8 reales cob of Diego De La Torre, Lima mint
in World Coins
Posted
I have a few Spanish colonial silvers, but not well sorted and photographed.
Here's my 1739 Guatemala cob. I'm not the one who holed it or turned it into a key fob. It was very cheap 25 years ago, though!
