Furryfrog02 Posted May 28, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted May 28, 2022 Today I went to an estate sale, my first ever. It was insane. The owner of the house collected tea cups. There were thousands and thousands of them. Every flat surface had tea cups stacked on it. Among all of that, I managed to find a few cool things...but this was far and away the coolest thing I found. I've always found uranium glass to be both interesting and beautiful but have never owned a piece. That finally changed today. I grabbed this piece and was given a price of $4 for it. You'd better believe I paid it as fast as possible. It has such a beautiful glow under a black light. Does anyone else collect uranium glass or anything else interesting? Feel free to show it off! 23 1

Furryfrog02 Posted May 28, 2022 · Supporter Author Share Posted May 28, 2022 I eventually want to get as many pieces as possible and have them on a shelf with some back-lit blacklights. They really are just too cool. I don't think I'll ever find a piece this cheap again though. This particular piece was from the early-mid 1930's as far as I can tell.

Really interested to see what other pieces you can find. Although I guess you're right that it might be hard to get them this cheap, $4 is an absolute steal 😄

Furryfrog02 Posted June 17, 2022 · Supporter Author Share Posted June 17, 2022 Mrs. Frog and I went thrifting yesterday and I was excited to come home with a cool jadeite urn that glows. I paid $4 for it. Then she went out today and came home with 2 salad plates that glow bright green. She paid $0.50 each for them. Had to go and top me...I'm ok with it this time 🙂
GregH Posted June 17, 2022 · Member Share Posted June 17, 2022 Fun facts - i believe uranium glass was used by the Romans in mosaics. Does anyone know more about this? Also keeping this numismatically relevant: there are some German medals that were struck in actual uranium!https://application.wiley-vch.de/berlin/journals/phiuz/05-04/Phy1073-Web.pdf 5

Turns out, you can buy one off of Amazon for pretty cheap! I found another piece today. Someone glued it to a porcelain saucer. I bought it with the hopes of being able to free it from it's prison.
Spirityoda Posted June 26, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted June 26, 2022 (edited) I can remember as a teenager in the 1980's having like 8 blacklight posters in my bedroom with black light tubes to show them off. I went to college and came home and my parents had given them all away with some other posters. I was quite mad when I found out they did that. I wonder what those posters would be worth today ? I know for a fact that looking at Ultra violet light for too long is bad for your eyes. Don't get me wrong I think your uranium glass is very cool to look at.
