mercedesq Posted December 4, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 4, 2023 I am newbie here and I need some experienced person to identify the coin. A friend told me it could be a Cleopatra coin. Thanks in advance !
CPK Posted December 5, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted December 5, 2023 Welcome to the Forum! It doesn't look much like Cleopatra VII (the famous one) to my eyes - but I am not an expert in that area. Perhaps others here will be able to offer a more definitive answer.
Broucheion Posted December 5, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 5, 2023 Hi @mercedesq, It’s not Ptolemaic. No idea where it’s from. - Broucheion
GregH Posted December 5, 2023 · Member Share Posted December 5, 2023 The flan shape suggests Paphos, Cyprus I think. Note that Cypriot coins attributed to Cleopatra VII are controversial to say the least. Anyway, this coin doesn’t resemble anything that numismatic experts have attributed (rightly or wrongly) to Cleopatra VII.
