GregH Posted November 24, 2023 · Member Share Posted November 24, 2023 It's been well over a year since I've added a new Roman ruler to my one-per-ruler collection. My remaining rulers are getting harder and more expensive to obtain. So I was pleased with today's Noble auction win. I can welcome Empress Domitia to my collection. It was an Australian auction too - so i don't have to worry about unfavourable currency conversion rates and exorbitant postage, customs etc. Let's see your Domitias (Domitiae?) Denomination: Silver denarius Mint: Rome Obverse: Draped bust to right of Domitia, hair domed on top, DOMITIA AVGVSTA IMP DOMIT around Reverse: Peacock to right, around CONCORDIA AVGVST Reference: RIC 212, BMC 61 10 1 1 8

Lovely little coin though. I’m thinking of going down the provincial path with Plotina/Matidia/Marciana - next on my wish list. 2
ambr0zie Posted November 24, 2023 · Member Share Posted November 24, 2023 For me, that would be the only method to obtain coins from these ladies.

That was the only Domitia - I only "owned" it for half a day 😄 Domitia Longina under Domitianus; Denarius of the Roman Imperial Period 82/83 AD; Material: Silver; Diameter: 19mm; Weight: 3.21g; Mint: Rome; Reference: RIC II, Part 1 (second edition) Domitian 151; Provenance: Stack & Bowers Rare Coins, USA (The Summer 2022 Global Showcase Auction, Session F, Ancient & World Coins Part 1); Obverse: Bust of Domitia, draped, right; hair bundled in front and in long plait in back.
