John Conduitt Posted November 5 · Supporter Share Posted November 5 (edited) Is it even a real type? A silver coin punched into a copper coin. Why would it exist? The use of the term ‘pattern’ seems confused and I wouldn’t be surprised if it wasn’t some sort of commemorative strike as a souvenir, not for circulation. Olivernumismatic Posted November 5 · Member Author Share Posted November 5 (edited) It’s considered a pattern countermarking, instead of using up money on new metals to strike they would countermark patterns on pre-existing coins. With that said, it is a type coin. I still seek to know it’s authenticity. Edited November 5 by Olivernumismatic
Benefactor rNumis Posted November 5 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted November 5 Not real. The 10K lettering is not correct and the monogram is poor. The 5K undercoin is genuine.
