AETHER Posted May 23 · Member Share Posted May 23 Wondering what the best way to clean this silver. Looks like crude and dirt, maybe lemon juice soak and toothbrush? It does look very hard, maybe toothpick? Is there a better soak, something not extreme?
expat Posted May 23 · Supporter Share Posted May 23 Looks like an attempt at some time has already been tried. I normally soak a coin in 100% acetone for an hour or so to remove any organic matter. Then a prolonged soak (1 week or more) in distilled water, changing the water every day. Then, under gently running water, a gentle scrub with a cut down soft toothbrush. Anything more than that I am not comfortable with. 2

expat Posted May 23 · Supporter Share Posted May 23 Acetone will only remove organic substances. The distilled water will eventually soften the harder deposits
