So, I bought the first one that I didn't get blown out of the water on... Sorry folks, not much to see here. But I'd landed one. More recently a cherry, provenanced one came along for a song... and I snatched it up! Macedon, Herakleia Sintike. First century BC. AE 14mm (3.43 gm). Strumoni-, magistrate. Obv.: [HPA]KΛEΩTΩN around Macedonian shield. Rev.: club; ΕΠΙ ΣΤΡ - ΥΜΟΝΙ flanking. AMNG 1; SNG Copenhagen 182; Paunov Type B. Scarce. VF. Ex Gorny & Mosch And for funzies (kind of the point of the fucking thread, right?) Here's a actual Celtic type that I believe was inspired by shields if not specifically MSCs! Central Gaul. Lingones. Potin (100-30 BC). Obv: Three horn-shaped ornaments central pellet. Rev: Three S-shaped ornaments central pellet. D&T 3261; LT 8329. Condition: Very fine. Weight: 3.34 g. Diameter: 20 mm.
