This is an article by Kenneth Sheedy that looks at the role of coinage portraiture and its relationship to other media (such as bronze and marble statues) and the maintenance and propagation of power in the Hellenistic Period.

I enjoyed this well written & well researched essay ☺️, but it could have been so much better with some illustrations 😉. I've reviewed a number of excellent essays posted on Academia that have this same shortcoming 😦. Like the old saying goes, "A picture is worth a thousand words."
