bcuda Posted September 25, 2022 · Member Share Posted September 25, 2022 I seem to be picking up a few more Roman Republic coins lately and staying away from the Imperial coins. I bought this just because I liked the way it looked and for no other reason, I would like to attribute it and put it into my collection display tray so I am needing the help from this awesome forum. I believe this is a Sextans and I am having a hard time with the monogram in front of the galley prow on the reverse. The most common monogram I have found so far is the MA that belongs to the praetor P. Manlius Vulso but it does not really look like the MA I am seeing on the coins I have seen. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

None of the ones in the link you posted have the monogram in front of the galley like mine.

Open CRO Online. See the search field above right side. Fill in: "Mercury Prow" Have fun with the 6 founding sites 😄 Like this one with monogram. its possible that it will be a "AVR" Monogramm:http://numismatics.org/crro/id/rrc-65.6 Sorry - I would help you more - but on smartphone its difficult with the details. But search with "Mercury Prow" and look the 6 sites - you will find your specimen - I am sure. akeady Posted September 25, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted September 25, 2022 I agree with @Prieure de Sion - it's Cr. 65/6, with an A͡V͡R written vertically. ATB, Aidan.
