  1. @Molag Bal Thanks for your earlier purchases. Nice choices. Happy to hear that your are satisfied with them. All the best.
  2. The auction was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who participated. I hope you are happy with the coins won. It's a sad feeling to arrive at the end of the process of selling my Probus collection and no longer be able to enjoy the fun, anticipation and excitement involved with each past auction where my coins were sold (I organized about 15 specialized Probus coins auctions in the last 3 years). Nevertheless I have decided to leave about 100 Probus coins to myself so I will have some souvenir after my specialized collection. All the best, Barnaba
  3. My coins will hammer in about 4 hours. Last call. Good luck to everyone and thank you in advance for your participation!
  4. The auction starts tomorrow. Last chance to register, browse the auction and leave prebids etc.
  5. I have seen better examples, fully silvered, but I do agree that the one you showed is very nice. CGB auction house offers from time to time fully silvered, totally uncirculated antoninianii of Probus, Tacitus, Aurelian and other late 3rd century emperors, coming from recent hoard finds. Check out their archives and you will find such better specimens.
  6. Great coin with a fantastic pedigree. Best of luck @DonnaML, i hope you do well!
  7. Below is a short note on Probus coinage which I wrote when promoting of one of my earlier auctions:
  8. 32 rare Probus coins carefully selected from my specialized collection will be hammered on the 28 Septmeber 2023 by Roma Numismatics Limited: https://romanumismatics.com/e-sale-...earch_lot_no=&sort_by=lot_number&view=bidders The auction will also soon appear on sixbid, numisbids and biddr.ch. Many of the coins offered are true rarities, known from only a few examples, and unpublished in reference catalogues like RIC, MPR or Alfodi. You may have come across one of my 12 previous specialized Probus coins auctions organized in the last 3 years by Rzeszowski Dom Aukcyjny, Gabinet Numizmatyczny Damian Marciniak and Roma Numismatics auction houses. My upcoming 13th auction is my last and final auction. So it's the last opportunity for you to acquire some Probus coins from my specialized collection, especially when considering that the remaining part of my Probus collection was recently acquired by the National Museum in Cracow, Poland. In my 10 years of active collecting I was able to acquire the second biggest private Probus collection in the world, comprising of almost 2,000 different examples. My (ex) whole Probus collection (organized into 10 folders; one folder per each mint operating under Probus) is available for view here: www.colleconline.com/en/collections/3268/barnaba6 I hope you participate actively in my last auction and wish you all good luck and many successful bids!
  9. Very interesting thread. Thank you my Friend for sharing. I am very happy that this exceptional and - to my knowledge - unique coin with the desirable Deo et Domino obverse legend and from the Siscia mint (not Serdica) is in your collection. I am sure this coin will be one of the highlights of your growing Probus collection. Congrats again.

  12. Hi. Sure. I can write a few words about the whole process once I am finished. My listings on eBay are all in the ‘buy it now’ format so you don’t need to put any bids. you can simply buy the coins or make me offers.looking forward to your purchases.

  15. Well, the rows of soldiers with shields on Probus Ticinum coins are not always very visible and well struck. Sometimes they do look like simple dots. A lot depended on the quality of particular dies and the artistry of individual die cutters. Below are a few great examples from my collection with obvious rows of "soldiers holding shields" decorated on the shield: https://www.colleconline.com/en/items/125697/coins-ancient-to-romans-imperial-and-republican-probus-ric-351-sold https://www.colleconline.com/en/items/125708/coins-ancient-to-romans-imperial-and-republican-probus-ric-361-sold https://www.colleconline.com/en/items/125743/coins-ancient-to-romans-imperial-and-republican-probus-ric-383-sold
  16. Thanks for your purchase! what's also interesting is Probus' decorated shield (3 rows of soldiers with shields).
  17. Today I posted several new Probus coins for sale on ebay. Please have a look at my current listings: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=275889693762&rt=nc... There are currently 116 Probus coins for sale, including many interesting rare variants!
  18. 35 coins already sold as of today. I have added 8 new Probus coins today. Have a look at my new listings.
  19. 13 coins already sold within a few hours. Not bad. But there are still many to go!
  20. I have just added additional 20 coins from Serdica, which I somehow have omitted earlier. So there are 125 coins currently on sale.
  21. The offer on ebay is only a small part of the collection. I have been selling my collection for 3 years now. My fully cataloged collection (before I started selling it) is here: https://www.colleconline.com/en/collections/3268/barnaba6
  22. I posted 110 of my Probus coins for sale on ebay. Please have a look. The prices are very attractive and I am open to offers: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?item=275871276393&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m3561.l2562&_ssn=barnabaskibniewski11 All coins come from my private specialized Probus antoninianii collection (the second biggest Probus antoniani collection in the world) which I have been building for 12 years. You may have come across my last auctions organized by Roma Numismatics or one of my 10 previous specialized Probus auctions organized by Rzeszowski Dom Aukcyjny and Gabinet Numizmatyczny Damian Marciniak auction houses over the last 3 years. I am curious how the sales one-bay will go.
  23. Nice coin. Congrats! I have (had) a very similar example in my collection: https://www.colleconline.com/en/items/125337/coins-ancient-to-romans-imperial-and-republican-probus-bastien-206-sold
  24. Even of we exclude medallions and the gold coinage, 2000 coins is still a big underestimation of the Probus antoniniani types. Much has changed in the last 20 years. But again, it’s also a question of which details we take into account when distinguishing various Probus types. I guess if we arbitrarily exclude some details, we might arrive at ‘only’ 2000 types. I am very curious to study the future revision of RIC V.2 volume if it ever is completed to see how many Probus types the authors will distinguish and which criteria they will use to distinguish various types: where will they draw the line?
