Thank you for another great Faustina Friday! I am sad the catalog is finished. 🥲
I had to go back and read your previous FF post about #1342! Very interesting- that must have taken some time to work out.
Sadly no exact matches for this page for me!

The JD from Alexandria mint is making me a little green. Also the Portrait on the Thessalonica Provincial is absolutely beautiful.

I can never get enough JD. Now seeing the pictures, I need to re-shoot the Pegasus- it does not do the coin justice. 😅
Here are a couple of my favorites:

Perhaps he had an example of the DIVA FAV-STINA legend break- where only the DIVA F was legible? It could easily be mistaken for DIVAE if the AV and left side is worn.

Note that I am by no means certain that the armed figure is as “clearly male” as Crawford asserts; I am not even sure what it is that leads him to hold that opinion so strongly.
I also wonder what would make this figure clearly male?
A very interesting write up, thank you. I do not collect Roman Republican coins but I do enjoy the style and imagery!
I have only a coin that depicts *Liberalitas:

Yay, it's Friday! 😄
A very interesting read, especially about Sulzer #1318. I think it is possible that the coin is real- I guess until we find an example it will be a mystery.
Faustina Friday is becoming expensive to read- I added four Faustina I this week. 🥲
Sadly, I only have one from this page!

A very nice coin from Thessalonica, I like the details that you can see with the video!
I have a weakness for Macedonian Coins, especially from Stobi.

Congratulations on your replacement 😄 I have always thought the hash marks on the Septimius elephants was just to show the elephant skin texture.
I would love to add a Caesar elephant coin (someday)- and now maybe a few others from this thread that I have not seen before!
Here are my elephants:
Septimius- (don't want to mess with this one, he is angry)
Antiochus VI
India, Mysore

I started out with uncleaned coin lots and found quite a few little treasures in my piles. (Proculus and a Constantine II from Alexandria)
I don't clean anymore and not for quite some time but I did keep some of my favorites!
Aquilia Severa, Concordia (She is a mess but still fun to find in an uncleaned lot!)
Thrace Cherronesos, Fouree
Sicily, Syracuse

Thank you for another Faustina Friday. What a fun idea to match the coins to the catalogue. I will be looking forward to the future pages!
I do not have any of the 1285-1296 coins 😐 the only Aeternitas of Faustina Senior I have are the eight rayed star and throne and peacock.

A thread I can get into! One of my very first purchases 22 years ago was a Medusa Aegis type and my nickname was Medusa at the time also. 😆
Here are a few of mine:
I would love to add one of the Perseus/Medusa type one day and perhaps find better examples than these that I collected so early on!

I find myself waiting for Friday's now just to read Faustina Friday. It also is starting to be an expensive reading habit- as I find myself researching and buying new Faustina coins. 😰
I do not have a Pietas reverse for Faustina Senior. I am a left facing portrait fanatic and love that she has both drape and stephane.
I do have two Pietas for Julia Domna as she is my main gal. (with Faustina Junior and Plautilla in a close second)
IVLIA DO-MNA AVG
draped bust right
PIE-TAS
Pietas seated left, holding palladium in right hand
mint of Alexandria- 7

Yours is spectacular, the desert highlights and details are beautiful.
I have four of Salonina but none in such beautiful condition as yours! The first two are my favorite portraits for Salonina.
