Wow thanks again. No gold coins for me! 🙂
Did you need me to post an entry for you? If so, I'll need to hear that. Most folks will enter for themselves over there, but if I remember correctly, you didn't have working CoinTalk credentials, right?

Pretty one, too.

Free hammered gold, anyone? 😉

If you cannot or do not wish to enter for yourself on CoinTalk, just let me know here, and I will post an entry for you over there. Don't forget that for this contest you must declare whether or not you have ever owned a gold coin before. If you're a "have", you get one entry in the drawings. If you're a "have not", you get two entries.
Good luck! 🙂

PS- I know there are some of you who won't want to go back over to CoinTalk, and that's fine- simply post a contest entry here, if you want.
Just tell me which prize you like and a word or two about why you like it, and I'll post the entry for you over there on CT.

Random drawing on or shortly after September 1, 2023.

Obviously, since the giveaway is hosted on another site, you'll need CoinTalk credentials to post an entry over there, but if you are unable to do so for whatever reason, you may post here and I will post an entry for you over there. Don't forget to include your prize choice.

Nice. Here are my favorites. In order of most favorite, most favorite at the top.
1. United States: 1799 silver Draped Bust dollar
2. Greece (Carian Islands, Rhodes): ca. 88-84 BC silver drachm
I love it when people pick favorites. That Draped Bust dollar is not coincidentally the most expensive coin in the collection. I had to pay a stiff premium for it.

Thanks! Great coins! Whats it like, collecting a 12Cs set for the second time?
And your aureus of Titus is really nice. I have the silver denarius of the same type. Its as close as a 'colosseum issue' as I will ever get.
It's fun the second time around! I know a bit more than I did ten years ago when I did it the first time (though I'd still call myself semi-novice), and I've got a rather larger budget than before. I did it the first time around with a budgetary ceiling of $500/coin. That made Otho and Caligula challenging, but I even got a Julius Caesar lifetime portrait denarius within that budget. Wouldn't be so easy to do that now.

Thanks for looking, and I welcome commentary and questions. 🙂

I posted this mixed collection in World Coins, since that seems the best overall category and there isn't a general uncategorized "Coin Chat" forum like there is on CoinTalk. But as you will see, the collection consists of Ancient, Medieval, World, and United States material.

Here's my J the A... I liked the 1887 hoard pedigree.

Looks nicely silvered, too?

Thanks, y’all. I like the type, and could see myself having picked the elephant even if it was on a silver denarius. Having it on a gold aureus is all the better, though much more expensive, of course.

Just added my Titus, too, so that's eight of the twelve.
Need JC, Caligula, Galba, and Vitellius now. (They won't be aureii.)

Very nice additions! That Domitian is looking very good. And an Otho is a difficult issue to add, and yours shows a more then decent portrait.
I guess you may have shown it before, and I either missed it, or my brain is out of office, but would you mind showing your Claudius denarius? Or do you perhaps mean your great sestertius your showed the other day?
And, second question (after this, I'll stop 😁); do you happen to have photos, or a digital tray, of your old set?
My Claudius is indeed that Spes sestertius I posted the other day.
Here is my collection (not showing the new additions yet). The Twelve Caesars will be a subset of the Eclectic Hundred.

Please don't apologize for asking questions, and thank you, since that shows an interest! I appreciate your taking that interest.
Oh- you asked about my OLD 12C set, didn’t you? That was ten years ago, on a much smaller budget.

I was pleased to unexpectedly win this one in the S-B auction. Sorta kicking around the idea of doing the Twelve Caesars again; this time as a subset within my existing collection.
This is my first NGC ancient with the star ★ designation.
