This coin is beat to death, and is proving difficult. My gut feeling is Otacilla Severa, but it's tough.

Reverse has a Zeus of Artemision-style pose.

It's about 26mm.

I have two of those Vimanacium coins though no radiates here.

It's a travesty that the Lighthouse was razed, but at least some of it lives on in the stones of that fortress.

Reminds me of the mausoleum of Halicarnossus, which remains in fragments in the British Museum, and other places. Although the remains of the Mauseolum lives on in Bodrum Castle, the Castle of Saint Peter. Some high-quality reliefs still remain on the walls of the fortress repurposed as spolia.

Did they intentionally strike this coin on a hand-prepared flan, instead of a regular planchet? I figure at this point in history, especially in France, most coins were collar-struck, no?

Here's my aquatic creature

I got a few new coins with neat countermarks. I'm not a CM collector, but when I get one, I don't complain.

I have a hard time telling if these are Severus Alexander or Elagabalus.

I think the countermarks on both are of a tiny radiate bust.

The top coin features a radiate bust of SA or EG, with a clearly defined radiate bust CM. The reverse features the classic cult "altar(?)" of Caesarea, showing Mount Argaeus. This one has the mountain singular.

The lower coin features a laureate bust, with an unclear, but what I think is a radiate bust CM. The reverse now has the Argaeus Altar within a clear temple enclosure. So cool!

There are so many options with the Argaeus Altar - stand alone, within temple, on table, on table with mini temple... the list goes on.

Sweet, thanks for your help! It's a smidge smaller at 28mm or so, but I think that's within margin of error 🙂

I recently got this Commodus bronze from a large lot.

There's not a whole lot to go off of, but I think I got it narrowed down to the city of Euippe.

I feel like a the exergual letters don't match, but the portrait and rest of the design seems to match up.
