  1. @Al Kowsky Its interesting that the mints of the Empire where holy places (Moneta sacra). This possibly gave the coinage somekind of heavenly blessing and protection. I guess minting fake coins would make you kind of a heretic.
  2. Beeing a bit late again I put the two brothers together in one post:
  3. @John Conduitt Oh wow I must admit I didnt think any of the coins I used for these cut outs would appear here. I normally add a bust of the Emperor to my coincards but if there is no existing bust I cut out the most lifelike/ good looking bust I can see looking normally on wildwinds.com . Yours is truly a beatiful coin and if it troubles you I will remove the bust from my coincard.
  4. Magnus Maximus, his name alone probably made Gratians soldiers switch their allegiance in fear of him.
  5. My least favorite emperor but he atleast minted some nice coins: And his wife:
  6. Sry for beeing late with Gratian but I guess I just put the two brothers together in one post now:
  7. I sadly dont have a good Procopius portrait yet
  8. One of my favorite emperors, I wish I had such a nice coin like the two posters before me 🥰 Here one as Caesar and one as Augustus from me:
  9. Constantius II. as Caesar and Augustus: And here poor Gallus:
  10. The two brothers as Caesars: And as Emperors (or should I say as enemies):
  11. Here a nice armored and helmeted bust: And here two later sole reign types:
  12. The tetrarchys biggest traitor: On of the last coins with the radiate crown: An less common helmeted bust: And here his son:
  13. I dont know why we intermingle Galerius and Severus II. but here is my only Severus II. :
  14. Galerius as Caesar: And as Emperor: And here his wife Galeria Valeria, only daughter of Emperor Diocletian:
