  2. PHRAATES IV (AE) Drachm, Susa S.52.22 (H behind archer) 3.66 g - 17 mm Indeed, the Susa coins of Phraates IV are rare, and those of later reigns even rarer. However, on the website of the B.N.F. we can see a large number of Susa drachms issued for Phraates IV, apparently all from the same hoard. The few specimens S.52.22 were struck on very debased metal. This mint was obviously short of precious metal.

  8. Very few acquisitions this year. Two dioboles to complete the series, Arsaces II and Sinatruces for the effigy, "ЄΠAP" and "ΓꞶTЄPZHC" for rarity, and a rather worn sestertius, but at least the reverse legend not re-engraved, as I have seen too often. 1- ARSACES II (211-185) Drachm Mithradatkart/Nisa S.6.1 4.19 g – 16.5 mm Obv. 9. In the same "family" we can mention the antoninianus of the period 280 to 282 issued in Rome and Ticinum, which bear a code indicating the workshop. The word AEQVITI (for Rome, which has 7 workshops), AEQVIT or EQVITI (for Ticinum, which has only 6 workshops), serves as a key. Here the V (quintus) indicates the workshop and the T in the field (5th letter of the word EQVITI) confirms that it is the fifth workshop. PROBUS Antoninianus Ticinum, 281-282 3.93 g - 23.5 mm C 418 - RIC Vb, 516 IMP C PROBVS AVG, Radiate bust left, wearing imperial mantle and holding eagle-tipped scepter. 10. Very nice selection of coins from Elymaïs, which makes me regret not having looked into this coinage yet.
  11. These are indeed two coins from the same dies. You can also see that the coin of the Schatz Collection, on FAC, comes from the same obverse die: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/gallery/displayimage.php?pid=121404

  24. ROMANUS III Histamenon, Constantinople 4,42 g - 24 mm S 1819 The first photo is over 30 years old, so of course a film photo, and was taken with a flash. The second one was taken with a digital camera recently, but I'm not happy with either one. When I compare the amount of money I gave for this coin (even taking inflation into account) with the prices at which the coins are sold today, I don't know if I should laugh or cry.
