It just so happens the last couple of coins to arrive all featured birds on the reverse. It wasn't planned but I'm not complaining! I'm particularly pleased to have finally picked up a Starr V.B Athens tetradrachm as I had been searching for one for awhile and they don't come up as often in good condition as I first thought. It also doesn't help that auction houses still often get them wrong and label later 454-449 BC types as having been minted in the 460s BC, or even flat out calling them Starr V types!

You can find more info about each coin on my website by clicking on the coin from the gallery. This is also a good time to mention that I've recently overhauled the galleries under the "Coin Cabinet" section so they auto-update when I upload new coins and also to make more space for the caption/description in the lightbox when you click on a coin. Let me know if you run into any issues or have any feedback!

    Interesting, so

it was you who snatched that Ptolemy from Vcoins, i was trying to bargain with the seller, but apparently you were happy with a full price! Great addition- Congratulations!

That's a very attractive plate coin pictured in Prieur's book; I'm surprised it wasn't marked as such on the slab 🤔. I remember when this coin came up for auction, had I been more flush with money at the time I would have bid on it too.

You are correct, though in my opinion coin was inexpensive- i was surprised myself (~$400), where previously, similar examples were selling for $1,500 at CNG in more worn condition, i was honestly surprised you didn’t bid on it:)

Wow. So that's at least three people in the USA, including me, who won coins in that auction but never received them. I can't help thinking that there's something strange going on. Although regarding the trucking strike, I didn't see any mention of an effect on coins leaving Spain, only those arriving there. So who knows?  I think it's ironic that in the email he sent me this morning, Mr. Cayon, in addition to apologizing, said that this issue "is not common at all."  In my  opinion, 3+ coins gone missing from one auction is all too "common"!

By the way, I haven't actually received the refund yet; I was just told that it's on its way. If the transfer doesn't arrive at my bank by tomorrow, I may start to worry again!

I got my denarius from Cayon (USA) about 2 months ago, it was quite fast

won this at the latest Roma auction, was quite pleased with the reverse. always wanted a bactrian tetradrachm because their designs are so intricate. eventually i want the type where eucratides has a hat, but they're a bit pricey lol.
