Drachm versions of the 2 below seem a little harder to find. Tets were used in trade, Drachmae were used in local commerce...

  2. Very cool and congrats @kirispupis!

You are right, it looks very similar to the Thrace Byzantion Sigloi with the Surfing Cow!

Comments: Byzantion was an ancient Greek colony that would eventually become Constantinople. According to legend, it was settled by Byzas, king of the Megarans, sometime around 657 BC

The ancient city of Kamarina was originally founded by Syracuse in the 6th century BC, but destroyed some 50 years later. It was rebuilt in 461 by the Genoans, under the Olympic charioteer Psaumis. Kamarina takes its place in the annals of weird history with the following episode. The people were plagued by a mysterious disease, which was widely thought to originate in the swamp north of the city. It was suggested that the swamp be drained, but the city’s oracle advised against it, as the swamp protected the city from invaders. The inhabitants rejected the oracle’s advice, drained the swamp, and were immediately invaded and exterminated by the Carthaginians.

Here is a litra minted during the safe, swampy days of the 5th century, with lovely detail all around and what they call a “find patina,” that is, only lightly cleaned and darkly toned.

    Electrum coins are so fun!

Here is my brother’s 1/96th electrum stater. It’s so tiny.  He has on his list to get the first EL coin with a blank obverse and stamped reverse at some point.

So cool Erin!  Like my Tetartemorions, you know I really enjoy those tiny coins!  So amazing how they did the die-cutting on such tiny dies!

Hey, go post your cool Frog in my Frog, Amphibians, and Aquatic Critters Thread!  You have an awesome version!

Great idea! A sub collection that's as rewarding as it is hard to acquire.

Though, first I'll share this ex @Bing in hopes that he realizes that site hasn't done anything for him. His friends from that site have. Nobody over here cares about his politics, nor anyones. Over there it's about being part of that party that the sites owner and mod are. Just cause he may share views with them doesn't mean they're his friends. We are.

Thanks for the cool coin old pal:

Yeah, I miss @Bing... would enjoy his posts HERE.  CT folks seem to notice not as many postings in Ancients area.

Your coins are super, @Ryro!  Nice sub-set !  I have a few more that I will post.  Fun stuff!

OH!  And I REALLY like that MONKEY!  😄

I wanted a name with an ancient sound to it, when I signed up on CT. Agricantus is a music band from Sicily, with a latin name. The MFB is also from Sicily, so this is the story behind my user name and avatar.

VERY cool vid.  And I am a big MFB fan.  Nice Avatar @Agricantus

Wish I could translate the lyrics, but the music is really cool to listen too.  Inspiring, but mellow!

  8. Wow, @antwerpen2306, thanks for the Posting!  I really enjoy the detail and the great coins.  VERY nice finds!  Thank you for the writeup.

I have none of the wonderful Denarii that you posted!  I do not have a Denarius of Sextus Atilius Saranus, however, I think I have one of his earlier relatives...

  9. I enjoy the History of Alexander III Makedon, called The Great.  However, I am not worried that there will beau coup postings of that incredible character! (Even my Avatar name is a derivative from Alexander III)

I would like to have a thread focused on the Makedonwn Kings leading up to Alexander... listing the Kings of Makedon:

Here is an early King of Makedon... of the Argead Dynasty (808 - 305 BCE)... Starting with Caranus and ending with Philip III / Alexander IV... yeah, 500 years of those guys!
