Victrix Posted January 28 · Member Share Posted January 28 The style doesnt look like the work of the Rome mint to me. Looks like some magna graecian city states style but I might be wrong.  Thanks 🙂
Al Kowsky Posted January 28 · Member Share Posted January 28 (edited) This coin looks like Crawford 53/2; Sydenham 311, similar to the coin pictured below that CNG auctioned last year, from the Rome mint, Anonymous, & struck after 211 BC. red_spork Posted January 28 · Member Share Posted January 28 (edited) Sicily. It is a Crawford 68/1b, the anonymous (unsymboled) sibling of the Crawford 68/1a denarius with corn-ear mintmark. The stylistic hallmark of this series is the prominent spike on the back of the helmet that you can see on this denarius with symbol and this sestertius as well. The unsymboled quinarius and denarius are scarce but the ones with symbols are extremely rare and seem to come up for sale once every 5-10 years on average. Also note how close the denarii are in overall style, compare the shape of Roma's head and visor and the cape on the nearest dioscuri Edited January 28 by red_spork

Victrix Posted January 28 · Member Author Share Posted January 28 @red_spork Could you shed some more light onto this denarius if you have the time? Bought it as anonymous but from what I can tell it's Sicily aswell staff series. Cheers!
