Lbk Posted November 24, 2023 · Member Posted November 24, 2023 Hi all, I have been trying to identify this coin. I assuming it's a quadran. It is 14mm diameter. The obverse is an eagle. Legend looks to be ROMA to the left. I've not been able to read the legend to the right of the eagle. The reverse is a cornucopia. No legend. The closest I have found is a Trajan quadrans. Any help welcome 3 Quote
O-Towner Posted November 24, 2023 · Member Posted November 24, 2023 The reverse of the coin clearly shows that it was issued in Conana (Konana) Pisidia and is similar to the few types I have seen ... although I am not familiar with this particular one. 2 Quote
shanxi Posted November 24, 2023 · Supporter Posted November 24, 2023 (edited) RPC 11683 https://rpc.ashmus.ox.ac.uk/coins/4/11683 It worries me that the two RPC specimens and the piece shown here have the same decentering and the same cracks at 10:30h and 01:00h. I only know this from casts. Edited November 24, 2023 by shanxi 8 1 1 Quote
Lbk Posted November 24, 2023 · Member Author Posted November 24, 2023 Thank you both. Much appreciated. Is it likey the 3 known examples are copies of another original? 1 Quote
SimonW Posted November 25, 2023 · Member Posted November 25, 2023 Definitely a cast. The middle one in Shanxi's post looks fine. 2 Quote
