Heliodromus Posted August 11, 2023 · Member Share Posted August 11, 2023 (edited) I don't normally pay attention to slabbed coins, so am not familiar with NGC Ancients' grading, but this one seems a bit off ! The eBay listing caught my eye because of the apparent discrepancy between grade and condition of the coin, especially reverse, and with the sellers' very poor feedback I though it might be fraud, but I looked up the coin on NGC's site and it seems correct, except that NGC are displaying the wrong reverse (flan shape doesn't match) - I wonder if that might have anything to do with it? https://www.ebay.com/itm/385942757185 https://www.ngccoin.com/certlookup/6157316-069/NGCAncients/ Is this really what counts as "Choice", or maybe some mixup at NGC ? John Conduitt Posted August 11, 2023 · Supporter Share Posted August 11, 2023 Well, the normal people's equivalent of AU is anywhere between VF and aXF. So presumably 'choice' just means it's nearly XF.
Heliodromus Posted August 11, 2023 · Member Author Share Posted August 11, 2023 Ah - I see. So Ch AU vs AU is really just like having your homework graded C+ vs C !
