John Conduitt Posted July 12 · Supporter Share Posted July 12 Does anyone recognise this? 10mm, 1.5g. I thought I did, but apparently not 🤣 At least it's distinctive. Apollo? Thank you 1
Finn235 Posted July 12 · Member Share Posted July 12 You sure it's bronze? Looks a lot like an obol from Nagidos
John Conduitt Posted July 12 · Supporter Author Share Posted July 12 Thank you. No I'm not sure it's bronze, particularly now I've photographed it and blown it up! It definintely looks like an obol, and the style of hair/headgear fits Nagidos, although I can't find anything particularly close (neither person seems to have a beard). It's surely at least Cilician. The 'reverse' is perhaps aphrodite. This from Wildwinds is 'uncertain' Cilician, and the reverse of this looks to have a similar hairstyle, described as diademed female head left, hair in a plait behind neck. But mine is rather crude.http://www.wildwinds.com/coins/greece/cilicia/uncertain/SNG_Tahberer_1776.jpg
