Valentinian Posted November 12, 2022 · Member Share Posted November 12, 2022 I have a web page with links to sites about coins of particular Roman emperors. http://augustuscoins.com/ed/references.html I just updated it and checked the links. (Unfortunately, many pages with links have lots of broken links.) A number of good pages have disappeared, at least with their former internet address. If you know of other sites devoted to the coins of a particular emperor, let us know and I will add them to that page. You might bookmark it. 8 5
Valentinian Posted November 13, 2022 · Member Author Share Posted November 13, 2022 Doesn't anyone know of a website like this? 1) It is about the coins of a particular Roman emperor and 2) I didn't list the site on my page.http://augustuscoins.com/ed/references.html I want to make it as useful as possible. Help by posting pages worth bookmarking.
Benefactor DonnaML Posted November 13, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted November 13, 2022 @Valentinian , the probus dot net link doesn't work and sets off various warnings, alarm bells, etc. I believe the site is defunct, but I haven't checked to see if it can still be accessed via the Wayback Machine. Instead, I use the very comprehensive https://probuscoins.fr/ website. It's in French, but if one doesn't read that language one can easily translate it using Google Chrome. For Gallienus, I like the site you mention; there's also the one at https://www.beastcoins.com/RomanImperial/V-I/Gallienus/Gallienus.htm, which I believe is or was Zach Beasley's site. Much more comprehensive is the 385-page pdf, in English, of the Reinhardt collection of Gallienus coins, which can be viewed and downloaded for free at https://www.academia.edu/77282280/GALLIENUS_ANTONINIANII_English_version_PDF?email_work_card=title . Specifically on the Zoo Series, in addition to the Jim Phelps article to which you link on NumisWiki, there's also his related article on the Liber Pater coins of the Gallienus Zoo, at https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=Liber Pater. For Postumus and the other monarchs of the Gallic Empire, all the volumes and parts (including plates) of the 2014 treatise by Jerome Mairat can be downloaded from Oxford's website, at https://ora.ox.ac.uk/objects/uuid:58eb4e43-a6d5-4e93-adeb-f374b9749a7f . These are the ones that occur to me off the top of my head. If I remember any more, I will let you know!

It looks like the old broken probus.net links are still there instead of the probuscoins.fr link.
Justin Lee Posted November 15, 2022 · Member Share Posted November 15, 2022 I wonder if old sites no longer live might be archived and accessible using the Wayback Machine on http://archive.org ?
