Roman Collector Posted September 3, 2022 · Patron Share Posted September 3, 2022 (edited) Check out Calgary Coins' site to find out! Their website is very educational about how modern fakes are made and how to detect them. Becker forgery. Al Kowsky Posted September 3, 2022 · Member Share Posted September 3, 2022 R.C. Thanks for pointing out the Calgary Coin website ☺️. Robert Kokotailo has posted excellent info on fakes & Koson Staters. The Becker fake you pictured was copied from the famous gold aureus in the British Museum. Becker's fakes & fantasies were so good they ended up in many museum collections as genuine 😏. British Museum Collection Pictured below is a Becker fake in my collection ☺️
Benefactor DonnaML Posted September 3, 2022 · Benefactor Benefactor Share Posted September 3, 2022 Genuine Becker fakes are very expensive these days. Fake Becker fakes, not so much! And no, I can't tell the difference.

I’m not under any illusion of being able to spot every fake, but this looks a bit like a cartoon version of a genuine coin to me.
