  1. I ask for a specific reason. I was looking at the Leu group lots and saw this one: https://leunumismatik.com/en/lot/46/6871 and a few more like it. Actually, a year or so ago I bought some that must be from the same group, also repatinated (although mine may be a bit more... orangey). After it became apparent that they were repatinated, I was disappointed and put them away. However, I'd like to enjoy them, lol. They are amazing coins. It bothers me that they are repatinated, but perhaps it shouldn't? Clearly many people are OK with it. It was also pointed out to me that they would look worse, and perhaps with less apparent detail (?) if they were stripped of this applied patina. And of course they are genuine coins, repatination or not. Anyway I'm curious about your thoughts. I know it's not ideal, but....? Thanks.
  2. Thank you very much for letting me know, it is a very fine coin! The A.K. Collection really is impressive. I also enjoyed looking at your Nero Tetradrachm. Amazing dolphins. I own one of these coins and looking at yours has me searching for dolphins. 😄
  3. Oh, thank you for this! That's very helpful. The writeup I got from Dr. Dieterle was correct, and I somehow confused it 😄 . And thanks it is a very nice coin, I like it very much.
  4. Hello all! While I've been a reader here, this is my first post. I joined the site because... well, I bought a coin from the AK collection at the Tokyo International Coin Convention last weekend (which was a lot of fun), then Googled the AK collection to learn more about it, and found this thread. So, I thought it's time to make an account. 😄 As a very non-expert coin collector, I'd also like to learn more about the coin. It's gorgeous, that much I know. It has high relief and it's a fine, sharp portrait. I was lucky to meet and buy it from Dr. Martina Dieterle, whom I see has been previously mentioned in this thread. I believe the coin is rare. What I'm interested in is what makes it rare, and anything else special or interesting about it. It's a Septimius Severus Drachm, 193-211. 18mm, 2.52g. AD 194. The tag also says BMC -; SNG Cop. -; SNG v. Aulock -; Syd p.96, 393. I did find a similar coin online, many examples of which are shown here ( https://www.coinarchives.com/a/results.php?search=Septimius+victory+denarius+&s=0 ) , but without the E (?) TR on the reverse. So perhaps that inscription explains its rarity? Anyway, I'll attach a few photos I took. I love the coin, and the other examples from the AK collection posted in this thread. Seems like a wonderful collection.
