This is due to the lighting, although the coins do have a golden toning.

Oh, what a nice idea! I grew up and currently live in germany, a country with a long history of minting coins! Here is a 2€ coin, from a series that shows a new important german building every year. The series started in the year I was born and I collected every single year up until,2022. Here is the 2017 edition, featuring a roman city gate called Porta Nigra:

Thanks to the person who invited me over here! I see a lot of familiar names from the forum I was never able to join since my account got banned immediately after I created it 🤔
Thanks to everyone for the interesting posts, I learned a lot from you all!
Now, as some of those more close to me may know, I have an internship in my citys archive for two weeks. Always wanting to experiment, I asked for permission to use an old document as photography background. The results turned out quite nice in my opinion, the pictures have this nice golden glow to them. Here are my three favourites!

What a handsome lady! I have a similar type, the more common Campanian didrachm. This one is a bit special though, being minted in Nola, not Neapolis. The lady on the obverse - Parthenope, one of the sirens from the Odyssee - must have had some mad singing skills! It's tricky to photograph unfortunately:
Nola, AR didrachm
400 - 375 BC
Obverse: diademed head of nymph (Parthenope) facing left
Reverse: man-faced bull (Achelous) advancing right, crowned by Nike flying above, NOLAION in exergue

Great neckbeard, and I that full silvering? A nice coin, especially with that toning! I have a Gallienus too, but the silvering has worn off a bit. It was a gift from an American collector, I like the style of the bust.
