  1. Well, the only Leopold I have is the much later fella they called "The Hogmouth" (probably not to his face)...
  2. I got NGC pix of these two. No grades yet.
  3. Pocket change in the Euro zone must be infinitely more interesting than it is here in the USA, though we do have a good variety of designs in our quarters.
  4. Random drawing on or shortly after November 1, 2023. Enter on: https://www.cointalk.com/threads/lordm-giveaway-102-pick-your-prize.407965/ Obviously, since the giveaway is hosted on another site, you'll need CoinTalk credentials to post an entry over there, but if you are unable to do so for whatever reason, you may post here and I will post an entry for you over there. Don't forget to include your prize choice.
  5. This Sasanian is presently my only non-Western ancient. NGC gave it perfect strike and surface scores.
  6. I haven’t found a full Celtic stater that met both my taste and budget, but I’m rather fond of this little quarter-stater from a famous ruler.
  7. These are presently the only Roman Republican coins I own.
  8. @CPK, your photo templates are really quite handsome. Reminds me of the posters @LONGINUS creates. And I agree that the heft of a chunky sestertius is always appealing. I presently have three.
  9. I’ve been collecting coins since 1976, but I date my serious collecting of ancients only to 2007. I had a few cheaper ancients (Chinese cash, late Roman bronzes, even a couple of pick bin denarii) as far back as the 1980s, but it was only after 2007 that I really began actively collecting ancients; specifically an “A to Z” (Augustus to Zeno) Roman Imperial collection. I still consider myself semi-novice in company like the present forum. I’m not the scholar that many of you are. I just like pretty baubles with some history attached, is all.
  10. They look fine to me, but my opinion is WAY far down the list of those you might trust. I simply don’t know enough to speak with any authority.
  11. No, that’s a neat coin, but not up to my intended quality standards.
  12. My hammer price was $750 at CNG. Like I said, probably too much. I would have loved to pay the $440 archive price from a few years ago, but that would not have won this month’s auction.
  13. I paid too much, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.
  14. I think it came from @ValiantKnight originally, if my memory serves.
  15. I'm a sucker for these little Japanese rectangles. It's been a while since I had one, and this is the first Mint State example I've had.
  16. I’ll say! Not something you can do here in Georgia! Though I DID find a Roman coin here, once…
  17. Love the contrasting patina on that Claudius AE. But it's your Otho that really wow-ed me!
  18. FOUND a Tribute penny, you say? Was this a detecting find, or a ground pickup? Where? I'm bursting with curiosity. Lovely coins.
  19. Wow! All 12 in silver, with some awesome types and terrific eye appeal all around!
  20. @Ancient Coin Hunter- good idea- maybe just for fun, I’ll look into something different (provincial) with Galba, if it’s got a nice portrait.
