Anti-money laundering & know your customer. Mainly forced by Finra and top institutions to track every wallet and account.

I received my invoice from Leu early this morning New York time, and paid via Wise a few minutes ago (minus the 12.00 CHF bank transfer fee). This is the first time I've used Wise in a while, and all of a sudden they've made it a lot more difficult: in addition to the usual password plus verification number sent via text, I had to upload a copy of a photo ID (I used my U.S. passport), and then upload a selfie -- something I don't like to take, never mind share, at my advanced age! -- which they first had to biometrically match with the photo ID, and now have to manually match them before actually sending the money. So, no more instant transfers. A big pain in the you know what, even if it does save money!
Those are new laws, you know to protect you . AML KYC are becoming ubiquitous with digital forms of payment.

This 42lb lump of ? had also an estimate of £20K.......if you want it it's still available. If you look at it long enough you can imagine all kinds of images in it. I can see a crouching Tiger left picture middle towards the top in gold! I'd love to see it in a NGC plastic tomb!
Central Italy, uncertain mint cast Æ Aes Formatum. Circa 6th-4th century BC. Disk-shaped with rounded obverse / Flat. ICC -; cf. Haeberlin p. 4, pl. 2 var. (weight); cf. Nomos AG, obolos 25, 568 var. (weight), cf. Oslo Myntgalleri AS 28, 227 var. (shape) (hammer: 500,000 NOK). 19.5kg, 275mm.

WoWiE! That Soter is cherry! Thanks for sharing. And sorry you didn't get that crazy nice elephant from Ecbatana.
Here's some of mine:
One with the popular countermark (you gotta wonder why they countermark a coin with an anchor on the front with another one on the back?)
and a fun little quarter unit:
The Ecbatana is mine, I was saying I took the 339 over the 1392.
Those countermarks were meant to cover up the control for that series as either a way to redenominate or to undo that magistrates striking.
