  1. Very nice group. I tend to prefer coins from before and after the Hellenistic period so I have relatively few of interest to big silver collectors and many of mine are low grade. One I like despite those problems is this Demetrios Poliorketes tetradrachm. Due to the right end of the prow, it is the thickest silver coin I have. The same design comes in a small AE.
  2. I imagine all here have seen it from my posts in other venues but this seems to be a place to show my Ptolemy II overdate 34/33. I discover this software reduces any image to their maximum of 1000 pixels just as Facebook does to 2048 pixels. While that is plenty large enough to make the point, the reduction software is not the best so it might make our photos look better if we did the reduction and posted something they will allow. I'm too lazy to take the time to do that but hope no one prints out those tiny files and tells others that it is my work. When people ask, I always offer to send them a better file suitable for printing in any format but some people don't bother. Automatic reduction is more convenient than just refusing to accept the file as is done on Coin Talk but might make a few people find faults in our photography that 99% of users would not see. Those who remember Coin Community may recall they had a feature where you could upload and resize for their site but they did not do it automatically as done here and on Facebook. I don't know if they still do that or not since I stopped posting there when they gave the boot to Stevex6 and Bing just before we invaded Coin Talk. The enlarged section here is not very sharp so I'll add a reshoot to the 'todo' list for rainy days when I have nothing else to shoot.
  3. This AE35 of Stratonicaea once had a countermark between Septimius Severus and Julia Domna that someone found offensive enough to dig it out of the coin. They also removed the head of Hecate. Some people need to work on anger management. Next: a coin someone 'improved' or, if we must, tried to improve whether or not it was a good idea.
  4. This is a bit strange. I received a confirmation message from this group and my internet crashed. Maybe he who thinks he is God really is. 🤠 I read the rules and almost did not join because there was nothing there that would correct the straw that broke the camel's back over on CT. I got a message from a member who thought that I was the same person as the Doug who spells his name creatively. I got another message from a member who had noted I had not posted lately and who signed off with the hope that the Moderators would be in control again soon. In my life, I have been called many names - some more pleasing than others - but I can not tolerate anyone confusing me with him. I was hoping to find a rule that confirmed my right to be me. Looking at the 'deal' for invisionservice, I see it costs more to have a plan that allows more images. 500GB is not a lot. I doubt that I will be posting much here since it really does appear that I am finished with the coin acquisition phase of the hobby at least until a good number of people now buying things have jumped off of high buildings following the market crash and currency implosion that seems imminent. Right or wrong, the hobby will never be the same for me. Today Canon announced a new camera I intend to buy rather than coins. I'm not to the point that I will be giving away coins I like (made that mistake in 1974 when I sold my first collection). I am attaching three images as practice. I have not read rules regarding image sizes but want to see how these display. None were made to be my avatar but they all have meaning to me. Some of you know why the coin were chosen. The other is the Lone Star tick that bit me this morning. We won't know for a while who won that battle.
