David Atherton Posted January 1 · Member Posted January 1 I hadn't realised until recently I was missing this regnal year 2 Roma variety from Vespasian's Alexandrian issues. It's not particularly rare, but neither is it what I would call 'common'. Searching eBay, I found this respectable and quite affordable example. Vespasian AR Tetradrachm, 12.28g Alexandria mint, 69-70 AD Obv: AYTOK KAIΣ ΣEBA OYVEΣΠAΣIANOY; Head of Vespasian, laureate, r., date LB before neck Rev: PΩ-MH; Roma standing l., with spear and shield RPC 2413 (10 spec.). Emmett 206.2. Dattari-Savio 365. Acquired from eBay, December 2024. The city goddess Roma is featured on the reverse of this tetradrachm struck for Vespasian in regnal year 2. She is depicted in the Greek Amazonian tradition wearing a short tunic and helmet, holding a spear and shield. Roma had previously been struck on the Alexandrian coinage of Galba, although as a bust and not the standing figure seen here. In hand. Thank you for looking and Happy New Year! 12 Quote
