Al Kowsky Posted December 31, 2024 · Member Posted December 31, 2024 While browsing through CNG Triton XXVIII, Session 6 offerings, I stumbled on lot 6461, two gold medals made for the 1958 World's Fair from Brussels, Belgium, that depict a little boy taking a piss 🤣! Now I've seen it all 🙄.... https://auctions.cngcoins.com/lots/view/4-FI37F9/belgium-temp-boudewijn-i-1951-1993-lot-of-two-2-av-medals-expo-58-brussels-worlds-fair-dated-1958-unc  3 1 1 1 Quote
CPK Posted December 31, 2024 · Supporter Posted December 31, 2024 Isn't that a famous statue/sculpture? Weird. Quote
Dwarf Posted December 31, 2024 · Member Posted December 31, 2024 There is nothing weird - is is a world-famous statue commemorating a battle in 1142. This statue here was designed in 1619, its origin is much earlier. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manneken_Pis It is especially famous for being decorated in various outfits on special occasions. Taken from Wikipedia - Manneken-Pis as Dracula or Adolphe Sax  Regards (and Happy New Year) Klaus 6 1 1 Quote

I'm sure even a small country like Belgium, would want to be remembered by a more appropriate image than a boy pissing 🤔. 1 Quote
ChrisB Posted January 5 · Patron Posted January 5 When I was little the local mall had a copy of that statue in the middle of the mall. Never seemed odd to me until later. If I remember correctly it was right outside the pizza restaurant. Quote
Qcumbor Posted January 5 · Supporter Posted January 5 (edited) Manneken Pis is as famous in Brussels as the tour Eiffel in Paris or the statue of Liberty in New-York. Smaller and less spectacular, I have to agree 😄 Q Edited January 5 by Qcumbor 2 1 Quote
Alegandron Posted January 5 · Supporter Posted January 5 Lol, my grandparents had a copy statue of the peeing boy in their garden when I was growing up. Quote

Benefactor jdmKY Posted January 5 · Benefactor Benefactor Posted January 5 This unique sculpture is located outside of the Franz Kafka Museum in Prague. The streams can be programmed to spell out phrases in the pool of water (which is in the shape of Czechia). 3 Quote
