airhead1983 Posted December 28, 2024 · Member Posted December 28, 2024 Hi Everyone, Im loving the 2024 Year in Reviews, as always, our collective collections are absolutely amazing! My brother and I had a really quiet start to the year and it lasted until the fall. I was focusing on my reptiles and my brother has so many different collections that he goes between, he spent time focusing on those. What ignited the coin fire was a contest that @Ryro ran and @Qcumbor had won. Qcumbor generously passed the winning coin onto me and sent another coin himself. Ryro kindly sent me three coins which I love! First is the Antoninus Pius Elephant 🐘 Next up is my first Gallienus! And last, but, certainly not least - a coin with an owl countermark! I apologize for the horrible pictures, they do no justice to the awesomeness of the coins. 😞 The coin that Qcumbor sent me has a fabulous provenance from our coin community! Theodosius, Antioch Mint This coin first belonged to @Alwin when he purchased it in 1984 and then Qcumbor purchased it years later. This was the year after I was born and also is my coin with the oldest provenance - very exciting! 😃 This lead me to make my one and only purchase of the year. I have been getting really interested in imitations lately, they can be absolutely wild! When Marc Breitsprecher posted this coin, I knew I had to have it! He refers to the reverse as the Headless Praying Mantis Monster. 😱. So, I now have three areas that I focus my collection on - Biblical and reptile related coins and ancient imitations. I’m very excited to dive more into the imitations in 2025! My brother also caught the imitation bug and got himself a Danube imitation of the Thasos tetradrachms. It came slabbed and he proudly cracked it out of its cage! This was his birthday present to himself. 😃 He also took inspiration from @TIF and purchased a Tanzendes Männlein quinarius. This thing is no joke - a fantastic coin! He is now going down a Celtic path - their coins are really cool! He just bought a Celtic electrum stater yesterday that will be his first coin of 2025. As for my 2025, Santa @ominus1 every year sends me a fabulous Christmas coin. Because of the mail strike in Canada, he sent it out later and will be here soon - I’m so excited to open it! He gives amazing gifts! My first purchase of 2025 will be made, hopefully, at the end of January and it is a crazy coin and I can’t wait to get it! Im glad my brother and I got to refocus on coins - it’s a much needed break from the year we’ve had. Thank you all for the incredible support - it means so much more than you will ever know! Here’s hoping for a most awesome 2025 coin season! 🥳🥳 Erin 28 4 1 4 1 Quote

airhead1983 Posted December 30, 2024 · Member Author Posted December 30, 2024 Thanks so much for your kind words!! I just got back from my parents and my sister dropped off a late Christmas present. I can proudly say that my Biblical collection just exploded with awesomeness. I now have a Daric and Shekel of Tyre. 😎 🥸😃 Or as close as I’ll ever get. lol I really do appreciate it. It’s a nice addition to my books on Biblical coins. Cheers! 🥳 Erin 7 Quote
Di Nomos Posted December 31, 2024 · Member Posted December 31, 2024 My favourite is the coin with the elephant. For some reason I reckon elephants look good on ancient coins. Hope next year brings you more great coins and plenty of happiness. 1 Quote
MrMonkeySwag96 Posted January 1 · Member Posted January 1 Your brother’s imitation tetradrachm is pretty cool 1 Quote
airhead1983 Posted January 1 · Member Author Posted January 1 Thanks! 😃 Elephants do look good on ancients! I have a really exciting purchase planned for the end of the month. I really want to share it now, but, I dont want to risk anything going awry with shipping by putting the cart before the horse. 🥳🥳 Happy New Year Everyone! Erin 1 1 Quote
Al Kowsky Posted January 1 · Member Posted January 1 Erin, Although modest in number, your additions are impressive 🤩! The Breitsprecher Celtic bronze is a gem 😍. Your brother's two additions are gems, especially the Thasos tet 😲! Poor Dionysos has been turned into a bizarre 4 legged creature, & Herakles looks like he's carrying a jug of wine 😂. Both you & your brother have a contagious enthusiasm for ancient coins ☺️. 2 Quote
airhead1983 Posted January 3 · Member Author Posted January 3 Thanks @Al Kowsky! I didn’t notice the four legs until now. lol! 😂 Im so happy that our excitement for ancients spreads! We become like kids at Christmas every time we get one. Our minds never cease to be amazed. I think our collections compliment each other. My brother has more money to play with, so, he gets the bigger coins, while I get the smaller ones. I’m not jealous - we kind of share them in a way. He has bought some coins from me when I needed money, so, they stay in the family. 😃 Erin 1 1 Quote
