rabbit5880 Posted December 24, 2024 · Member Posted December 24, 2024 (edited) I'm completely new to ancients, there seems to a be a slightly raised middle edge on the border of this new Alexander tetradrachm just for a few centimetres (see video attached). Is this a casting seam? Is it authentic? Purchased off Vcoins from a reputable seller. Video.mov Video(1)(1).mov Edited December 24, 2024 by rabbit5880 1 Quote
Aziz Posted December 25, 2024 · Member Posted December 25, 2024 i’m not an expert but it seems like a casting seam for me . Quote
John Conduitt Posted December 25, 2024 · Supporter Posted December 25, 2024 Hard to tell from the video. A line doesn’t have to be a seam. It doesn’t go all the way around and the edge is not an even height all the way round, which suggests it is genuine. Quote

Aziz Posted December 25, 2024 · Member Posted December 25, 2024 (edited) This topic is a good chance for learning i recently had a cheap fake coin to study it , the seam in my fake coin doesn’t not go all the way around the coin and it’s not round all the way as well , looking forward to learn more from this example and of course better pictures are needed and the weight of the coin will help determine, hopefully it’s original for the sake of the owner Edited December 25, 2024 by Aziz Quote
