I_v_a_n Posted December 19, 2024 · Member Posted December 19, 2024 I am thinking nothing more can be said then "Ionia Uncertain". The weight is typical for the region: Lydian-Milesian system. For me the incusum shape relatively close to the so called "horse head" serie. So, it can be somewhere near in the "Ionia Uncertain" also with dates, because "horse head" serie coins was found in earliest layers in Artemision: before 640-620 BCE. P.S. Congratulations for a new interesting purchase! 8 Quote

CNG did have 2 similar coins 48th stater (0.3g vs. your 1/24 stater; Phokaic standard) 9/11/2024 eAuction 570 Lot 99 1/27/2021 eAuction 484 Lot 318 both same dies Leu had a similar coin, again 1/24th stater, in Web Auction 7, Lot 1278 24-Oct-2020 Apparently unpublished and unique, a very interesting issue. https://www.biddr.com/auctions/leu/browse?a=1325&l=1413999 4 Quote
panzerman Posted December 20, 2024 · Member Author Posted December 20, 2024 Thank so much Sulla80! The second CNG ex. is a match to my Concordia 1/24 ex. Leu 1/48 ex. more worn also matchs mine. Electrum Staters/ fractions are fun to collect and most are very rare. There is also a mystique to having coins that are "uncertain"☺️ and are rarer then Brasher Doubloons that sell for $5-8M. 2 Quote
I_v_a_n Posted January 3 · Member Posted January 3 Browsing through BM online collection I've found this one. An interesting new information is a fixed findspot of BM piece: Colophon. 2 Quote
