Same reason alcoholics drink - because they're alcoholics. Our version is coinaholism, or maybe numisholism?

There is a BIG difference though! the first is bad for your health/ the second is good/ makes you happy=good health.

How did you remove the applied "patina"?ย

there are usually two layers of artificial patina: colored and black underneath - warm water, a toothbrush, and then, if necessary, gently rubbing with the harder side of a dishwashing sponge.

-or soaking it in coca-cola๐Ÿ˜‰ for 48 hours and then brushing it with soap

"I'm not an alcoholic, I'm a drunk. Alcoholics go to meetings."

I'm not a numismatist, I'm a collector. Numismatists go to bourses.

I think numismatists go to libraries and collectors go to bourses.

Thanks All for your comments! ๐Ÿ™‚

Time to reveal my motives for purchasing this coin. Well, I was almost fooled that it was a coin of Seleucus I, but I was intrigued by the two visible letters to the left of Athena: *AN*. I checked and it turned out that it is a coin of Antiochus I Soteros, SC 381 with similar iconography (it differs in the legend, the position of the shield and the symbol under the shield. But it is much rarer than the coins of Seleucus (especially the quadruple denomination) - I did not find any auction quotes. So in such In this case, the condition is not important to me (who knows when I will be able to buy another one).

Greetings!

Robert

Anyway, this is no longer a collector's item. No matter how rare the coin is.

Anyway I'm not a collector, just a nimismatist ๐Ÿ˜‰
