David Atherton Posted December 16, 2024 · Member Posted December 16, 2024 These are tough to come by, so I couldn't be picky about the condition. Despite the wear, it's a pleasing smoothly worn coin, which I'm more inclined to rather than a rough or corroded VF. Domitian Æ Hemidrachm, 13.92g Alexandria mint, 92-93 AD Obv: ΑΥΤ ΚΑΙϹ ΘΕΟ(Υ) ΥΙΟϹ ΔΟΜΙΤ ϹΕΒ ΓΕΡΜ; Head of Domitian, laureate, r., with aegis (?) Rev: LΙΒ; Emperor in quadriga RPC 2678 (1 spec.). Emmett 264.12. Dattari-Savio 455. Ex Zurqieh, November 2024. A rare triumphal type struck for Domitian at Alexandria. Most likely this is a generic reverse copying a Rome mint prototype and does not refer to any specific triumph. RPC records just one specimen in the 'core' collections. Seldom seen seen in trade. In hand. Feel free to post any worn wonders. Thanks for looking! 10 Quote
CPK Posted December 16, 2024 · Supporter Posted December 16, 2024 A great rarity - congrats! I like honest wear in a coin. 1 Quote
