wuntbedruv Posted December 15, 2024 · Member Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) Last week I won this Alexander III hemidrachm at a UK auction. Hammered for £9. Totally encrusted with horn silver but still identifiable. I felt like it would probably clean up okay. Received the coin today and wasted no time in applying a treatment of sodium thiosulphate. This is after about 4.5 hours total soaking. I probably could do a bit more but I'm a big fan of knowing when to stop. Anyway, excuse my horrible pictures but I was excited to show. Will take ones with proper camera tomorrow. A significant improvement. I believe this to be Price 3605, struck at Babylon, judging by the symbol between the legs of the throne. CPK Posted December 15, 2024 · Supporter Posted December 15, 2024 Most definitely an improvement. That's a rare denomination, isn't it? Nice score! 3 Quote
