-monolith- Posted December 14, 2024 · Member Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) I just purchased this one, mainly because it looks like it has traces of an overstrike. It was posted as (Macedon. Thessalonica circa 187-31 BC. - 16 mm, 3,75 g). I have exhausted all my database and periodical searches but I can't seem to find a similar coin. I thought maybe Carthage due to the style of the horse on the reverse. Most horses are prancing or grazing. This one is just standing with it's legs aligned. Any suggestions? Deinomenid Posted December 14, 2024 · Supporter Posted December 14, 2024 (edited) That looks like a hound not a horse. Therefore quite possibly Segesta though the weight is low - there are coins that I know that look very similar but are mostly didrachms. Anyway, the hound idea might help.
