How does this work? I understood that flow lines appear on the coin because of the pressure/force of the strike pushing the metal of the coin outwards. If these lines are in the die, does the metal of die change too because of the force strike? Quote

The reason for this is that each stroke has a small erasive effect on the die and this adds up. After several thousand strokes, the flow lines become stronger and deeper.
