As my wife is half German, half Norwegian, my slippers were filled with goodies this morning. Also, it is a public holiday here in Spain, Spanish Constitution Day. 2 Quote
Orange Julius Posted December 7, 2024 · Member Posted December 7, 2024 (edited) Anyone heard of Krampus?! I’m in the U.S. and had not but wow… wild! I don’t know much about the tradition but as someone with a dark sense of humor… I think we should pull this one over and add it into the Christmas mix! “The Krampus (German: [ˈkʁampʊs]) is a horned anthropomorphic figure who, in the Central and Eastern Alpine folkloric tradition, is said to accompany Saint Nicholas on visits to children during the night of 5 December (Krampusnacht; "Krampus Night"), immediately before the Feast of St. Nicholas on 6 December. In this tradition, Saint Nicholas rewards well-behaved children with small gifts, while Krampus punishes badly behaved ones with birch rods.” https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krampus I don’t condone goat-like creatures punishing children with birch rods… but… 🤷🏻♂️ sounds like spooky fun.
