OMAJ Posted November 21, 2024 · Member Posted November 21, 2024 (edited) Hi Guys, I just purchased one of my dream coins and I was so excited (Leontini Tetradrachm pedigreed to 1988) from Cayon Subastas but now i'm pretty anxious that it may be fake (as someone told me to be very weary). I'm very new to ancient numismatics and so I'm quite unfamiliar with numismatic research, but would it be possible to either provide some insights into its authenticity or tell me how to check myself. Essentially, I though that given this coins extremely dark patina, shattered border and cracks indicating crystallisation/stress as well as the pedigree to 1988 that it must be authentic compared to the other tetradrachms circulating in the other auctions. Any help would genuinely be appreciated. Cheers!!
