David Atherton Posted November 20, 2024 · Member Posted November 20, 2024 (edited) I guess this should be considered a personal 'grail'. For as long as I've been collecting Flavian coins, this Euthenia reverse type has eluded me for one reason or another. Titus AR Tetradrachm, 12.84g Alexandria mint, 80-81 AD Obv: AYTOK TITOY KAIΣ OYEΣΠAΣIANOY ΣEB; Head of Titus, laureate, r. Rev: ΕΥΘΗΝΙΑ; bust of Euthenia, r., date LΓ to r. RPC 2465 (3 spec.). Emmett 232.3. Dattari-Savio 420. Acquired from Taters Relics, eBay, 18 October 2024. An extremely scarce Euthenia reverse struck for Titus at Alexandria in regnal year 3, probably the rarest type of the reign at the mint. It was previously struck on the Alexandrian coinage of Augustus and Claudius. RPC records only three specimens in the 'core' collections. Euthenia is the Greek goddess of prosperity. In hand. Please feel free to share your own 'personal grails'. Thanks for looking! Edited November 20, 2024 by David Atherton 15 1 1 Quote
Amarmur Posted November 20, 2024 · Member Posted November 20, 2024 I'm super into Alexandria coins so this is only a minor grail for me. This is a diobol featuring the Canupus of Orisis. It is in good shape too. 8 Quote

Benefactor kirispupis Posted November 20, 2024 · Benefactor Benefactor Posted November 20, 2024 Very interesting! I assume they deliberately minted very few coins of Euthenia, so that those who find them can become prosperous... 1 Quote
