Kosmas Posted July 30, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 30, 2022 (edited) It's very difficult to choose "Your Dream Coin" but these 3 are very special for me !! POST YOUR DREAM COINS !! Edited July 30, 2022 by Kosmas
Prieure de Sion Posted July 30, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 30, 2022 Dream coins I have in my collection - or I dream about? And when dream - bad dream or good dreams? And when good dreams - dream coins who I can buy or its never possible I can buy? The question of the thread overwhelms me. 1 1
CPK Posted July 30, 2022 · Supporter Share Posted July 30, 2022 I'd love to have an EID MAR denarius (or hey, since we're dreaming, make that an aureus.) Of course this one would be a must-have as well: After those, I'm not sure...when the options are limitless, it's hard to make a list! 10
Prieure de Sion Posted July 30, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 30, 2022 Ok... then I dream about this one: "The "Red Kangaroo" from the Australian Perth Mint measures 80 centimetres in diameter and is 12 centimetres thick alone. Such large numbers conceal a corresponding amount of gold: the XXL kangaroo weighs 1.012 tonnes." After I get this 1.012 tonnes of gold - and sell it - in can buy all my other dream coins... and more. 8 1 1 1 1

Roman Collector Posted July 31, 2022 · Patron Share Posted July 31, 2022 This coin is unlisted in RIC, BMCRE, Cohen, Strack and Sear. It's apparently unique and in a museum (Münzkabinett der Universität Göttingen AN-0291, so it's one of those coins I can only dream about. Its reverse depicts Cybele riding in a biga of lions ... ... and the only thing cooler than that is Cybele riding in a quadriga of lions, which I DO HAVE in my collection: Julia Domna, AD 193-217. Roman AR denarius, 3.30 g, 19 mm, 6 h. Rome, 21st emission, AD 205. Obv: IVLIA AVGVSTA, bare-headed and draped bust, right. Rev: MATER AVGG, Julia Domna, as Cybele, seated left in quadriga of lions and holding branch in her right hand. Refs: RIC 562; BMCRE 48; Cohen/RSC 117; RCV 6592; Hill 759; CRE 354.

Your Domna is one of my dream coins! I've never seen the other one before. Do you doubt its authenticity? Do you doubt its authenticity? I'd have less doubt were there more than one example in the whole world. Its style and fabric look good from the photo, though. ambr0zie Posted July 31, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 31, 2022 One of the coins I would try to get if I win the lottery is the aureus of Septimius Severus with the entire family.
Harry G Posted July 31, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 31, 2022 I've always wanted a coin of Julian of Pannonia, but unfortunately they're rather pricey. A *slightly* more realistic grail for me would be an antoninianus of Pacatian, Jotapian, Regalian or Dryantilla, like this one of Pacatian coming up for sale in the next Naville auction. I do have my eye on another grail not mentioned here, that is coming up for sale soon. I've saved a decent bit of money to (hopefully) spend on it, although I'm sure it will go out of my budget range. I will certainly make a post if I win it though!

AncientJoe Posted July 31, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 31, 2022 There are certainly many coins I still wish to acquire but I'm fortunate to own most of my "dream coins". However, one which will probably remain impractical to acquire is this Akragas tetradrachm, with an absolutely incredible Skylla on the reverse: 11 1
sand Posted July 31, 2022 · Member Share Posted July 31, 2022 Here's a coin type, which will probably remain a dream coin type, a cast Roman Republic Janus as, also called a Janus "aes grave". I like the primitive beauty of it, and the history of it, and the interesting beliefs of the Roman people about the supernatural, which are shown on it. It will probably remain a dream coin type, unless I somehow become extremely wealthy, because of my limit, that I am willing to spend, on a single coin. This is not my coin. I don't know, who owns this coin. Perhaps someone on this forum. If so, then nice coin.
