I have not had any luck finding any references or other examples of an animal (?lion) countermark on any Byzantine coins - any pointers would be much appreciated!image.jpeg.7c9d9e3caabf9cb919d56f0d79a909a0.jpeg

Diameter of coin 25 mm

Diameter of obverse countermark approx. 12 mm

Weight 5.49 gm
